Assuming you don't already have study materials in your lab for 70-536, you can wait for the .NET 4 exams to become available. 70-536 is not required for the .NET 4 track.

Having said that, any study you do now will only help towards the new exams anyway because the .NET Framework hasn't changed considerably.

The prep guides will go online in another couple of months before the beta exams are available so you can compare what you know, don't know, and want to learn during that time.

My recommendation is that if you don't hold any certification at this time and your intention is use VS2010 and .NET 4, hold out for those exams and get certified on them.

If the new exams were still a year away, I would suggest certifying on 3.5 and upgrading later but it sounds like you haven't invested a lot of time in studying for 3.5 yet anyway.

Hi Gerry,

Sorry to ask an irrelevant question under a different topic. I was wondering what would you suggest about the .NET 4.0 certifications. I haven't got any certifications before in previous .Net versions. Though, i was preparing for 70-536, but 4.0 is out there and it seems no point to do it now.

Do you think will I be fine without passing previous versions first, and then go straight onto .NET 4.0 certifications when they release.
