One of the things that has always fascinated me is the Applications Diversity we find in the LRG agencies. Birth registration, schooling, employment, marriage, death registration, and even cemetary and creamation centre management fall into the scope of many agencies. A suspicion I have is that there is a long tail effect going on here, in that the majority of activity and focus is on a smaller critical group of applications and that the rest could be replatformed into the cloud. Whislt these are good examples, what I would be interested in, is if anyone has done an analysis or modelled the possiblility of taking some the long tail and the impact of placing these on a cloud platform.
