Managing Director, Government Industry Solutions, Microsoft Worldwide Public Sector

As Microsoft’s Managing Director for Government Industry Solutions, Ben Wilson is responsible for technology strategy and solution development for government industry customers.  This includes evolving the partner ecosystem to create better solutions, working with Microsoft’s product groups to ensure alignment with governmental needs as well as working closely with governments worldwide to better understand their requirements.

Ben’s public sector experience spans 25 years, most recently spending 10 years as Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Napa County, California.  During his tenure Napa County was transformed into a leader in how they used technology as they moved from mainframes to web architecture.  With a passion for technology driven process improvements, he added numerous efficiencies and customer capabilities.  The County was consistently recognized for being first in technology including implementing the first public sector ERP system.  As President of the California Counties Information Systems Director’s Association (CCISDA) he led many statewide improvements including creating the “Best of CA Counties”, a forum to recognize and share innovations. 

 

Prior to Napa County he was Chief Information Officer for the Lane County Oregon and served in various technology and engineering capacities for the City of Los Angeles and Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
