The Microsoft Dynamics GP team, are hoping to provide some ideas on how you can use Microsofttechnologies to improve your business intelligence experience with the datafrom your Dynamics GP database. To that end, we are creating some exampledashboards that you can use with GP, and looking for feedback from you on yourbusiness intelligence needs.
Below is an example of a financial dashboard that can be built in Microsoft Excel, utilizing some of the new tools available in Office 2013. The dashboardprovides metrics based on live, refreshable data pulled directly from your GPcompany database.
Feel free todownload the dashboard to use for reporting on your data using the link below. You just need to walk through a few steps to hook up the data connections fromthe sheet with your data.
Note: Someof the functionality on the dashboard requires Office 2013, which doesn’t yethave an announced release date. However, you can download the Office 2013Preview to try it out at the following site:
Thisdashboard is intended as an example to help individuals see how Excelfunctionality can be used to build reporting experiences. But we’re also hopingto build out a few more in the future. So we want to get feedback from you onyour reporting needs. Here are some questions to help get the conversationrolling. Please jump in the conversation in the comments section below:
What would happen if you try to use this with Excel 2007 or 2010?
The timeline is a excel 2012 feature only. You can see but it will be limited.
I tried to run this against our TEST database using GP 10 but the script didn't work...any suggestions? Can I have my IT consultant call you direct? I think this is extremely useful but I can't run it against real data...
When I see BI examples like this, they are always (usually?) single company. I am working on a Dynamics GP installation with 70+ live companies and dozens of different functional currencies in those companies. I often find it difficult to understand to what extent these single-company reports are applicable to my situation - where any reporting is likely to be cross-company.
I agree that there needs to be multi-company reporting. However, there should also be single-company reporting.
Tanya, can you email firstname.lastname@example.org and we can assist.
I sent your comment back to development and they are going to look into it. thanks for the comment.
Charles, yes, I agree. I would be nice to have the choice of single and multi. The idea I sent back to development was a multi select to pick all companies, or just specific ones.
Thanks for the feedback.
This is already with the client!
As regards chequebook balances it would good if it came from the casebook module as well.
Another useful dashboard for sales and purchases.
