Folks interested in DoD stuff may wish to go to this colloquium at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab. It will cover past DoD Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconaissance (C4ISR) constructs and their problems, and the current move to become Net-Centric. You'll see a brief historical perspective, and a description of what is needed to become Net-Centric. The colloquium will be delivered by Mr. John P. Stenbit, who served as Assistant Secretary of Defense (C3I), Command, Control, Communications and Intelligence and Chief Information Officer for the Department of Defense for the last four years. There's an article on this topic by Mr. Stenbit here.
Home page for the colloquium series is here, and directions to APL are here.
