There's an interesting piece of symmetry in the next couple of weeks. DotNetNuke and the Community Starter Kit are both starting points for creating community web sites. CapArea.NET has a meeting on DotNetNuke tomorrow night. Central Maryland ASP Professionals (CMAP) has a meeting next Tuesday, October 5th, to discuss the Community Starter Kit (CSK).
CMAP's meeting will will walk through the core architecture of the CSK to uncover techniques and best practices for building content management systems. The presentation will discuss some of the strengths and weaknesses of the CSK, and briefly discuss deployment and customization. Like all starter kits, the CSK is downloadable from the ASP.NET web site.
This meeting will be held at the Impact Innovations office in Columbia, MD. It starts at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, October 5th, and directions are here. The speaker is Scott Allen, the chief software architect for Medisolv Inc., an ISV based in Columbia, MD. Scott has over 12 years of experience in delivering commercial software products across a wide range of technologies – from 8 bit embedded devices to highly scalable web applications and web services for Fortune 50 clients. Over the last three years, Scott has been using .NET and SQL Server technologies to build business intelligence on top of clinical data warehouses. Scott is also a co-founder of OdeToCode.com.
