It’s been a busy week – we launched Windows Azure to the Australian market on Tuesday 23rd here in Sydney!  

Our keynote speaker, David Chappell, delivered an excellent perspective on the Windows Azure Platform (and other cloud platforms) and was very well received by the crowd in both Sydney and Melbourne.

Dianne O’Brien followed up with a review of commercial models, SLA and promotional offers for Windows Azure and announced commercial availability in Australia for April 2010 (not long to go now).   Our various promotional offers and MSDN benefits also become available locally in April.

Gianpaolo Carraro then wrapped up by showcasing some of our local team’s early adoption work on Azure, including appearances by adslot, ajiliti and Joomla!   We also highlighted the strong early support we have from customers and partners here in Australia who are working with us on Windows Azure and some of the comments from the likes of MYOB and ninemsn:


So, we’re looking forward to the commercial release in April and a lot more great local adoption is coming.

Momentum with both customers and partners in the Australian market is very good and I’m having regular architecture sessions about the best scenarios for using our cloud platform.  In the meantime everything you need to get started building for the Windows Azure Platform is at
