As the UK’s National Health Service moves from a highly centralized care model to a decentralized system with much more local accountability for spending and quality, some organizations are already well ahead of the curve. One such example is Torbay Care Trust.
Torbay Care Trust is an integrated health and adult social care organization with about 1,300 staff consisting of frontline health and social care workers such as district nurses, occupational therapists and social workers. They operate from a range of different premises across Torbay such as community hospitals and clinics. The Trust is responsible for providing and buying services for about 140,000 people.
The Trust’s aim is provide “the right care, in the right place, at the right time”. Administrators and staff are constantly developing new ways to make services more accessible for the local population, and introducing new opportunities to help patients under their care take more control over the care and support they receive in order to live their lives the way they want.
This week on Microsoft Health Tech Today, I am joined by Vanessa Dunn, head of IT and Telecommunications for Torbay Care Trust. Ms. Dunn tells us how Torbay has deployed Microsoft Dynamics CRM (customer relationship management) software to help community matrons do their work. According to Ms. Dunn, the CRM solution has reduced duplication of services and improves the hand-offs between various professionals enabling one single care record and much better care. Community matrons report increased productivity of 20 percent due to significant reductions in duplication of data entry, better real-time access to information, and improved collaboration across care teams.
Here is a short promo for this week’s program. You can watch the full interview starting Tuesday, February 8th, at 9 AM Pacific time.
