It turns out that communication is also a big deal for physician satisfaction in the workplace. As reported by Drs. Robert Stark and Dan Whitlock for H&HN Daily, communication ranks high in a recent survey of physicians’ perception of their organizations’ culture. The authors point out that poor communication is often cited as a root cause of medical staff dissatisfaction and cultural discordance between administrators and physicians. This has a bearing not only on physician satisfaction but also on recruitment and retention. Considering the high costs associated with physician turnover, healthcare administrators would be wise to pay more attention to how they are communicating. It is important to realize that culture trumps communication and is often the source from which troubled communication springs. There is NO communication technology that will overcome negative culture and the absence of trust ... both of which are very prevalent in healthcare organizations in the USA.
It is a bit of a chicken and egg because communication skills can build trust .... however the tech aspect is meaningless if you don't have a foundation on which to place the tool

This is so true! Patients want to feel understood, to develop a level of personal trust with the physician and clinical staff and to be able to comprehend any diagnoses given. Really though, communication is the key to success in any industry. When it comes down to it, effective communication is how anyone accomplishes anything.
