The HealthVault devicesteam is pleased to announce the release of a new Driver Development Package. This replaces what we had previously referred to as the HealthVault DDK or Driver Development Kit. This release was primarily targeted at bringing the device development experience up to par with other Microsoft products and kits that we depend on.
What's new?:
The last bullet point is the most exciting from a development perspective. What this really enables are device companies to create HealthVault drivers for devices without being completely reliant on Microsoft to come up with a WPD -> HealthVault data type schema. Moving forward, if a device manufacturer has a new device type they’ll be able to pass HealthVault XML (through WPD still) to HVCC and up to the HealthVault platform. No more waiting on the HealthVault Devices team to release an update.
We’re working on getting the devices section on the HealthVault MSDN site updated, but for now you can download this new development package here. If you run into any problems or have questions as you're developing your device driver, post on the HealthVault MSDN forums and we'll get back to you pretty quickly.
Happy Coding!
