Well, the interesting part of the story is why he says he does it, in an e-mail to Lawrence Liu.

I painted out graffiti on a wall in our neighborhood for two solid years. As time passed the longer it took for the kids to hit it again with spray paint. Now I haven't had to touch it for five years.

You're right, zzz! Why pick up trash in a national park? Or help out a neighbor! Someone else is bound to do it, right?

re: This Just In: Microsoft Exec Picks Up Trash

zzz-yeah, I'd agree...you wouldn't like it here. And saying "I do it every day" - Now how much $ it is to have high level exec to pick up the trash by hand in a year? I bet with the $/time he uses that "every day" in his MS career could buy a more permanent fix for dealing with the cause and no the effect.

In effect all this story says is you have poor/no management of toilets at MS. So this is very bad news and I couldn't imagine working for MS when such details go day by day without effective handling.
