That's an incredible achievement & you should be so proud of yourself. I think once you catch the bug - its kind of a self-reinforcing thing. On the anonymity thing here's my thought: when i was looking at people running I always felt like i did watching everyone dance when I was just sitting. Sounds kinda trivial - I know - but its the closest example I can think of. So all I'd say to you is there are WAY more people out there seeing you and wishing they could find the same courage/energy/confidence that you have. hehehe - and then - when you're all done - you can smile and think to yourself..."i knew i could do that". Grats.

re: 5K

By the way, Jean-Bernard, I just saw the pic of you and your wife on MSW. Our giving campaign folks did an excellent job managing that event. It was fun!

I'll keep that book in mind. I wish I had more time to read lately. I have a stack of books next to my bed that I want to get through. The good news is that insomnia is not causing me to read all night (yay! Sleep!) but unfortunately that has not left me with a bunch of other time to read. Lately, my source of inspiration has been Runners World Magazine...minimal commitment there :)

Thanks for the recommendation! Hopefully I can get to tje point where I can check it out!

If you are a runner (I am not, but used to run a loooooong time ago), you should consider reading "Born to Run". A fascinating book even though I no longer run.

Hope your week goes smoooooooooth!

I've done it too, in 27 minutes. Don't know what my rank was, I just looked at my watch. I made the rookie mistake of starting too fast. My heart rate was all over the place and I had to do intervals (guess who brought their asthma inhaler and checked it at the coat check without using it...duh). But, even with the intervals, I beat my 5K PR (can you call it that when you are s-l-o-w?) I did 38:05 and was 41st in the 40 and over category. I'll take it. Interestingly, it's the same as my indoor pace on the treadmill "5K Fun Run".

I have decided to feel good about it. It was a good learning experience for me.
