Amalga and HealtVault to bridge the gap between clinical and patient centric data systems. The product name is going to be officially named tomorrow!

This is a very interesting development – not in that it is anything new but in the fact that Microsoft has “Infrastructurised” the process and protocol requirements using COTS software. this makes these capabilities more accessible to all – the only caveat is that the person have a HealthVault account.

I think project Miami is a great step in the right direction for healthcare IT – especially in the way in which Microsoft is able to commoditise these capabilities – leaving healthcare providers to concentrate on care provision and strategy rather than taking up their time doing IT.
