While on a client site today, my colleague Mario (name withheld to protect the innocent), and I found an interesting problem with the CMS Rad Editor.  It looks as though the Rad editor depends on the MCMS application and does not behave well when you deploy you CMS application to the root web site.  If you do not include this application dir, the Rad editor dialogs do not work.  Here is the workaround/hack/fix:

  1. Create a folder called MCMS_RAD (or whatever you like) in the %%CMS INSTALL DIR%%\Server dir
  2. In IIS manager change the MCMS vdir to point to the folder you created in step 1
  3. Remove the application from the MCMS vdir

Voila.  Enjoy

An update:  I may have jumped the gun on this one.  I was informed that this problem affects versions of the Rad editor lite 2.1 and earlier.  It is fixed as of version 2.1.1 and above.  I haven't had time to test it yet, but I will update the post with my findings.
