Problem Description

Whenever we click on Design View in Visual Studio 2008 it has no effect.

Screen is struck on HTML source

It get's bit annoying when screen get struck at HTML source code. At the same time we can do other things like Add new item. So it does not seems to be exact hang scenario.

• CPU usage was low for devenv.exe.
• No error message in event viewer or IDE

Got inspiration from Mikhail

Seem like something obvious was messed up with Visual Studio designer , may be OFFICE component ( As VS designer have common dependency

with MS OFFICE)

We tried to repair VS 2008, repair was un-successful.
Tried modify PATH environment variable to have C:\Program Files\Microsoft Web Designer Tools\VWD added for path based dll discoveries , that didn't help.

Following Steps helped:

• Uninstalled Office 2007
• Uninstalled VS 2008
• Re-install VS 2008 -> Re-install Office 2007 , that seem to help!!!
