Over on the Windows Mobile Team Blog they have started a discussion about One Handed Navigation...

It was very timely as I was about to post a similar article as now we have Push Email lots of customers have been asking me for a scroll wheel like a Blackberry....

Blackberry 7100v Review

Now when you break it down - the scroll wheel isn't the critical item - it's more that people are looking for single handed navigation and the ability to use the device without having to pull the stylus.

Some of the newer devices like the Motorola Q do have a scroll wheel, as does the HTC Hermes.  What's interesting is that the Hermes has it on the left and the Q on the right of the device....

When speculating about why HTC put the Hermes wheel on the left... I thought it may be due to the fact that the old Sony Ericsson P900 and other Sony Ericsson devices have/had it on the left as well as the fact you can't get a left handed Blackberry :)

Having used the Treo 700w - they've done a great job of delivering single handed navigation on a Windows Mobile device... the only thing I can find that requires the need to touch the screen is to select subfolders in Inbox.....

So my question is ... Is it the wheel or single-handed navigation that people want?
