The applications and services the people use at the workplace or often different from those that they use today at home.

There is friction between these two experiences – as employees they often use applications and data in the workplace that they do not have access to at home, and vice versa.

Maturing end-user abilities, coupled with their expectations of the workplace are driving a convergence of the home and the workplace from a technology perspective.

IT is realizing that it is in the best interest of the business to drive down the friction between the experience in the workplace and the experience at home.

There is also a meta-point here – one where enterprise IT is shifting its mind-set from control to one of enablement.

Employees want freedom of choice, without being restricted by IT, and enterprise is realizing that it is better off by playing the role of an enabler.
