As the summer begins to wind down, we’re gearing up for several series of events focused on the core pillars of client development, web development and cloud computing. Over the next year, you’ll see Chris and myself, along with our fellow Developer Evangelists from across the East region presenting “Firestarters” on various aspects of those core development pillars. A Firestarter is a day-long event focused on a single technology starting at the basics and diving deeper throughout the day. The intention is to provide you an opportunity for focused immersion to spark your own development efforts with the technology that is covered.
The first series we’re announcing is the Windows Phone 7 Firestarter: a full-day series of learning events for developers, taking you behind the scenes with an inside look at the philosophy, design language, and fundamentals of Silverlight and XNA coding for Windows Phone 7. The two closest stops for the Northeast are in Waltham (August 24th) and Farmington (September 30th).
Firestarter Agenda: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Morning Sessions: Introduction to Windows Phone Development and the WP7 platform Building Windows Phone 7 Applications with Silverlight Building Windows Phone 7 Applications using XNA Lunch (included) Afternoon Sessions: Monetizing Your Apps with Marketplace Windows Phone 7 Services Light Up Windows Phone 7
Windows Phone Garage: 6 - 9 p.m.
Following the Firestarter, you’re invited to a special hands-on workshop from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. featuring one-on-one proctoring from the Microsoft and community experts. It's the perfect opportunity to design and implement that cool new app you've been dreaming about, so bring your ideas and get ready to code. (Oh yeah, dinner’s on us!)
Registration links are below. Note: you must register separately for the Firestarter and Garage.
So what about the Web and Cloud events? We're still finalizing the agendas and venues, but if you want to pencil-in dates on your calendars, here's the near-final lineup. Check back on Chris’s and my blogs for more details and registration links when they become available.
