The New Era of WorkUpdate 10/28/2012 9:45 a.m.:

Due to the impending arrival of Hurricane Sandy and the declaration of a State of Emergency for Massachusetts, the New Era of Work event in Waltham on October, 30th HAS BEEN CANCELLED. Those of you that registered for the event will be receiving an e-mail alerting you to the cancellation (check your spam and junk folders). We are hoping to reschedule the event, and I will update this post once again when information is available.

Update 10/26/2012 9:20 p.m:

The agenda has been modified and we will unfortunately not be able to deliver the “Introduction to Windows Phone” session at this event.

The event organizers are carefully watching the track of Hurricane Sandy, but at this point the event will still be held as planned. I will update this post should that change, and all registrants should expect an e-mail as well alerting them to any change.

So you’ve been waiting for Windows 8 to really hit the streets before you take the dive?  Well this is your chance! Ushering in “the biggest wave of innovation in Microsoft history,” the New Era of Work launch series kicks-off next Tuesday, October 30th, at the Westin Hotel in Waltham, MA.

Waltham is the very first stop on this tour that will hit 32 cities across the country. We’re going to beat the Hollywood guys by a full three hours thanks to the time zone difference!

The New Era of Work is all about learning how the latest innovations in Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, Office, Visual Studio, Windows Phone can transform the way you do business. It’s way too much to cover in a single day, so in fact, it’s more like five different days crammed into one.  There will be separate tracks at the Waltham event (other smaller venues on the tour may have fewer) that cater to:

Business Executives IT Executives IT Professionals
Development Managers Developers

As you might expect, I’ll be presenting (with some help from John Garland of Wintellect and John Pelak of Blue Metal Architects) at the Developers track, with a solid agenda focused on leveraging the Windows 8 development opportunity.  As of this writing, the agenda reflected on the site isn’t quite correct, so I’ve mocked up below what you'll be seeing in Waltham.

  • Any news if this is still on now that the hurrican is expected to hit New England Monday night and Tuesday?

  • we're watching things closely at this point, no decision made yet on postponing, but do expect an update (I'm hoping no later than Monday morning), which I'll post on this blog.  Registrants would also get informed via e-mail as soon as the go/no-go decision is made.
