Product Roadmap for Host Integration Server 

To help you manage existing systems and plan future deployments of Host Integration Server, we provide the following product roadmap.

Host Integration Server 2009 and BizTalk Adapters for Host Systems 2.0
Currently, the HIS product group is working on a new feature release, Microsoft Host Integration Server 2009 and Microsoft BizTalk Adapters for Host Systems 2.0, for release in the first half of calendar year 2009. The main theme of this release is to deliver customer-focused innovation for connecting Microsoft Windows to IBM Systems. Please join the Beta Program and see New Feature List for more details. 

Summary of new feature areas:

  • Expanded Microsoft platform support 
  • Extended deployment options and management tools 
  • Enhanced connectivity to Host Applications
  • New WCF Channel for WebSphere MQ   
  • Expanded connectivity to DB2 
  • Improved connectivity to Host Files 

Following release of HIS 2009 and BAHS 2.0, the HIS product group will work on a number of project, including: 

Service Pack 1 for HIS 2006 and BAHS
The Service Pack 1 for HIS 2006 and BAHS (1.0) is planned for release in the second half of calendar year 2009.
The service pack includes fixes for customer-reported problems and support for new Microsoft products, including:

  • Windows Vista with SP1
  • Windows Server 2008
  • Visual Studio 2008
  • SQL Server 2008.

Systems Center Management Pack for HIS 2009
The Systems Center Management Pack for HIS 2009 is planned for release in the second half of calendar year 2009. Using the SCMP for HIS 2009, you can extend the management capabilities of System Center Operations Manager 2007 to the management of the applications, systems and IT services that exist across your management infrastructure, and to share alerts across your various management solutions and System Center Operations Manager 2007.

Best Practices Analyzer for HIS 2009
The HIS 2009 Best Practices Analyzer (BPA) gathers data from Microsoft Windows and Host Integration Server configuration settings. BPA uses a predefined list of HIS 2009 recommendations and best practices to determine if there are potential issues in the deployed environment.
