&lt;p&gt;the work done by tech support varies with what software you are supporting. &amp;nbsp;I worked with Windows 95, so I had to be ready for calls related to just about anything (modem doesn't work, printer won't print, can't get the screen to resize, etc...). &amp;nbsp;I'd estimate about 10-20% of the calls could have been avoided if people had read the book, and another third could have been answered in many of the third party books available. &amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;

Besides helping those who code (test, document, etc.) understand what users are really like, it would also help everyone understand the value of a GOOD computer support person.&lt;/p&gt;
