Andrea from Home Depot was true to her word: she called this afternoon as promised. Unfortunately, her news wasn't what I wanted to hear. She spoke both with Maytag and with Home Depot HQ (a large orange city somewhere in Georgia) and determined that a) all complaints that look, smell, or feel like they fall under the Maytag class action suit have to be handled through the class action suit, b) I didn't qualify for the class action suit because I bought my units too late and c) Home Depot policy was that they wouldn't swallow the cost of the washer and dryer just because I was worried. She was very nice about it and she did close that door for me.
