Tried everything I read about after doing Google search re: error message that msi program couldn't be run, check its authenticity. Re-installed MSI 4.5, made sure permissions were in order, etc., but still wouldn't allow installation of a *.msi app. Finally, I thought, since it's Microsoft installer, maybe .msi apps can only be validly downloaded via MS Internet Explorer, not the Mozilla Firefox I had been using previously. No, still didn't work. So then I tried executing Run instead of Save from the internet sites I had downloaded the .msi apps, and Bingo!, give that man a cigar, IT WORKED!! The installers worked for each of the several .msi files. This tells me that there is something on my Win XP Pro NTFS-protected system that is preventing the execution of the msi apps.

I would still like to find out how to undo whatever setting(s) so that I can run downloaded msi apps. I'll try to get thru to MS Support if I can manage not to pay anything for the service.

As far as I can read from Microsoft documentation, creating a single help file install build from several HxS files requires compilation of a single, combined HxI file - but how do you do that? What tool is needed?
