Well, we had a “Community Leader Appreciation Night” for Houston last night ... we got a suite at Minute Maid Park, had hamburgers, hot dogs and beer and generally had a good time.  It was great to hang out with a bunch of other geeks and watch the game, even though the Astros are keeping up their current streak of sucking really, really bad.  (Yes, they lost again.)

What was really cool about this was that many of the people there knew (or knew of) each other, but didn't always get a chance to hang out and chat in a relaxed atmosphere.  Also, because everyone could bring a guest, it was even more relaxed and festive ... more like a family event than a geek fest.  Not only that, two of the folks there (Claudio Lassalo and Markus Egger, both MVPs) were at their very first baseball game!!  Ellen Whitney spent most of the night explaing the intricacies and subtleties of the game to them.  (Good thing we didn't see a balk ... I've yet to be able to explain that one!)

One thing I would have done differently: Hung a sign outside of the suite that said “Microsoft .NET Geek Fest”.
