I arrived on Saturday (25-Oct) at noon and fortunately at that point in time the wildfires in the east of the LA area had no influence on the flight schedule. But I've heard that people coming in later have problems. It's not because of the smoke which isn't that dense in downtown LA or LAX airport, but the flight traffic control for the region is in the fire area and they had to plan for evacuation.

I just attended the keynotes from Bill Gates and Jim Allchin. Overall the two sessions really got the message out what all the new Longhorn technologies (Avalon, WinFS and Indigo) will bring to endusers as well as to developers. Seeing Jim working as code monkey for Don Box was really fun:-)
