So a few weeks back I was poking around the Internet for the latest in desktop search tools.  I had been running the Google Desktop Search since it came out.  However, I am not particularly enamored with the Google tool, I think because I wanted a rich user interface rather than a sparse vanilla web interface.  In fact upon my first use of it I thought my drive contents had been indexed and shipped off to Google.  My stomach was churning and my pulse quickened, then I quickly realized it was using the local loop address and stopped shuddering, well not quite completely....

So to continue the story and back away from the tangent, I happened upon Blinkx.  After reading about how it works I thought, this is the tool I want.  So I downloaded Blinkx and installed Blinkx, then proceeded to never use Blinkx.  To be fair, I tried to use it a few times and was not disappointed in its search results.  Now, I did find the toolbar embedded in the title bar to be annoying as well as something lacking in the rich client user interface as well I still can't put my finger on it.  I just can't place why I didn't like the User Interface and since I wasn't using it I uninstalled it.

When I did uninstall the application, it asked me to send an email message to help them understand why I had unloaded it from my system.  However this message bounced back to me.  It turns out the mailbox to which the response email is sent to is currently over its limit.  Hence, this blog post.
