Tonight's Atlanta .NET User Group meeting should be a great one! Starting off the night, Doug Ware of Magenic will talk to the group about the Visual Studio Express SKUs. And for the night's featured speaker, we are fortunate to have Shawn Wildermuth come speak to the group about some of the finer points of ADO.NET. Plan to attend!
Speaker: Shawn Wildermuth
As the newness of .NET wears off, application developers must move past the "how to" of data access development and start considering the best ways to get things done. In this session, we'll do just that, starting with an intelligent approach to the DataSet vs. DataReader question followed by discussion of more specialized issues like connection pooling, transactions, handling multiple result sets, and the finer points of typed datasets.
About the speaker: Shawn Wildermuth is the author of "Pragmatic ADO.NET", in the .NET series for Addison-Wesley as well as co-author of the forthcoming book, "Programming Yukon" with Richard Blewett for O'Reilly. He is a Senior Consultant with Magenic Technologies. He speaks across the country as part of the INETA Speakers Bureau is currently the editor of O'Reilly's ONDotnet.com site, as well as the founder of ADOGuy.com. Shawn has spent over eighteen years developing data driven applications in the varied fields of accounting, real estate, Internet, data warehousing and medicine. His articles can be found in several journals, including MSDN Magazine, Windows 2000 Magazine, ONDotnet.com, InformIT.com and Intel.com.
