I had my first Live WebCast today on Intro to WF Rules. I did a tech-check with Julie and we checked the sound, the slides, discussed the protocol we would follow to reach each other during the Webcast, how to mute everyone else except me etc...We had good turnout, with 38 people out of the 65 registered...

Another day, another storm
Kavita Kamani - MSFT
Well, Western Washington seems to have made this a habit. We got snow again yesterday, and where I live, we have 9 inches of snow! Driving on the local roads is risky and I for now, cant even get out of my house in the car since there are cars just stranded and abandoned from last night on the last part...

Day 7 - no power
Kavita Kamani - MSFT
Another day gone, another day without power. It's just getting unbelievable. So, I found out that there are 24 houses in my community without power. There's more than 2000 houses in all, and I guess I am seeing what being in a minority implies. PSE was not sure if the crews were even working in our area...

Day 6 - No power, still counting
Kavita Kamani - MSFT
What are the odds of living in a community where 99% of homes have power but ours doesn't? The person across the street has power too. Still counting and hoping we'll get power today.

Power outage
Kavita Kamani - MSFT
In the windstorm that hit the pacific northwest on Thursday night, a lot of homes lost power. We, still do not have power - 5 days later. They're saying it could be through the weekend before we get power. Funny enough, most of my community got power on Sunday night, but just a few homes, including yours...

Our team on Channel 9
Kavita Kamani - MSFT
Last week the Channel 9 team came over to our building. They initially wanted to do an interview with Doug , our Group Program Manager. But Doug loves to put a nice spin to things, so he called other folks from the team over to his office and it ended up being a nice team interview. Sadly I missed it...

Rain, gosh I've never seen so much of it!
Kavita Kamani - MSFT
I am actually in DC this week at the Business Rules Forum conference, but someone sent me a couple of photos - it's been raining near Seattle like crazy. Yes, even though most people feel that's not news for Seattle, let me tell you, it's usually just a constant drizzle and not flooding rains like this...

Running as normal user
Kavita Kamani - MSFT
Florin brings up an important point...something we normally forget to do, making our machines more vulnerable to hackers. You dont really need to be logged in as an administrator all the time while developing software. Read Florin's post here .

Outlook wish
Kavita Kamani - MSFT
Meetings at Microsoft are an inevitable thing. Scheduling rooms for meetings is also an inevitable thing...I think it takes longer to schedule a meeting and finding a room than it should... Outlook 11 tip - the follow up flag
Kavita Kamani - MSFT
I have been using this for a while, ever since I installed outlook 11 . I find it very useful for remembering things I need to do. When you get a mail, just single click on the follow up flag to mark it with a “red” follow up tag. I often use the different colors to mark things with different...
