If you don't occasionally take a look at the extras from Google, you might want to take the time and do so. My past favorite, before pop-up blocking was added into IE via SP2 was the google toolbar. Current favorite is Picasa 2.

 

Picasa will go through your hard drive and find all of your pictures (as well as movies, etc). While I still hope to get all my images sorted some day, at least now I can find them. While Picasa has editing functionality and other features, I use it primarily to help me locate images a task which it handles quite nicely.
