As I was driving in this morning, my mind raced at the many development projects I’m dying to work on. There are some really cool ideas I want to implement, and one in particular that I know for sure is going to cause me to code till my fingers go numb.
There is nothing more exhilarating than that feeling! That excitement and drive that causes you to not even realize that the following has occurred
You lost track of time, and somehow the last 4 days just slipped by
You can’t count the number of times your spouse has stepped into the office and said:
“Have you even gone to bed?”
“Just what the heck is so important?”
“Ya wanna come back down to earth now Cap’n and socialize with the rest of the family for a while?”
“That’s your 8
th
pot of coffee today, ya’ wanna’ slow down now?”
Your children think their name is “Just a minute……….”
I recently experienced that feeling again when I was working on

. Things just kinda’ fell together, and the ideas were racing left and right.
I also remember the time when I first started working at Creative Programming. Creative had a product named Vitamin C, which was a user interface package written in C. When I was hired….I had never used the product before, and my first task was to finish work on a Screen Designer (TUI drag and drop designer) that would then generate the VC code that developers could use as boiler templates. I was given about 2 months to finish it, and the project had just started before the previous dev left

I tell ya, there’s nothing like cramming like that. It was a total blast!
I’ve also been debating on what I’ll be doing next on this site so that my newer posts are “Developer” related posts rather than the posts on my music that I’ve made recently. I think I’ve decided that I’ll combine both by detailing work I’ll be doing on designing some Site templates, and web parts for tracking Audio/Video related projects. I’ve actually wanted to do this for a long time, but it was a matter of finding time.
Here are some of the SharePoint related Templates/WebParts/Add Ins I have in mind.
A Final Draft plug in for CheckIn/Check Out/Publish of Screen Plays
(WebPart with Page Previews, etc)
SONAR plug in for the CheckIN/Checkout/Publish of my Cakewalk projects.
Just for versioning.
SoundForge CheckIn/CheckOut/Publish, and automatically read Regions; Markers, etc and auto catalog and indexing
Vegas Video plug in for archiving projects (Vegas 6 installs MSDE for Meta Data if you’re a Vegas fan, and haven’t noticed)
These are just ideas right now, and don’t really have a good spec idea for each one, other than thoughts that have crossed my mind. I’ll keep you abreast of the progress..
