&lt;p&gt;it caused the variables pane to be visible even though I have WorkflowShellBarItemVisibility = ShellBarItemVisibility.MiniMap | ShellBarItemVisibility.Zoom&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Do you know what could be causing this?&lt;/p&gt;
