Bill Hilf is Microsoft’s General Manager for Platform Strategy, Microsoft Corp and a respected authority on Open Source Strategy. He is responsible for leading, driving and championing platform initiatives at Microsoft. Prior to joining Microsoft, Bill led IBM's Linux / Open Source Software technical strategy at a world-wide level.

On 30 April 2009, we were privileged to have Bill to share with a group of Singapore’s senior architects and professionals on future computing platform, trends and technologies at Microsoft Innovation Centre, Singapore. It was a highly interactive discussion with attendees very engaged in a deep dialogue with Bill.

Bill spoke about Software + Services vision, Cloud Computing, Lifting code for VM Boot in AZURE for Windows Server 2008 R2, HPC = distributed computing, Virtualization, Parallel Computing, PLINQ, Task, Parallel Library, Application Request Routing inside IIS as load balancing for a web server, etc. The Q&A session was very interesting where deep questions such as GPU, parallel programming were asked.
