Do you need to download all 4 pieces from MSDN?
Visual Studio LightSwitch, Beta 1 (x86) - DVD (English)
Visual Studio LightSwitch, Prerequisite Beta 1 (x86) - (English)
Visual Studio LightSwitch, Runtime Redistributable Beta 1 (x86) - (English)
Visual Studio LightSwitch, Web Install Beta 1 (x86) - (English)
Sorry the subscriptions page isn't clear, the public download page will be clearer.
You will need to download Visual Studio LightSwitch, Beta 1 (x86) - DVD (English) only.
It’s an ISO image and the generic ISO download instructions apply.
- Download the ISO image to your computer.
- Coose one of the following options for handling downloaded ISO images:
(Recommended) Write the image file to a blank DVD.
(Alternative) Mount the image file virtually as DVD devices.
For more information about these ISO options, see this FAQ page:
BTW, if you don't want to copy the image locally, you can run the Web Installer directly.
There doesn't appear to be a way to make a column unique in the designer? !
Or am I just blind ?
Looks like a great tool to get apps up & running in no time.
Any pointers on how security, (authentication & Authorization) will be dealt with with lightswitch?
Unique fields (other than PK fields) are not supported in Beta 1. Check out this thread in the forums for more info:
Yes LightSwitch supports both Windows and Forms based authentication and Role-based security. See this topic in the documentation: msdn.microsoft.com/.../ff851957.aspx
Where's the public download link for LightSwitch?
Come on! I'm too keen to get going on this!
