Whether you are at home, work, or on the go, you want the latest content of interest available anywhere, anytime, and able to be shared with the world. Microsoft has a few new projects brewing as part of its Windows Live efforts and we would like to share our vision of the future with you as we work towards a new connected ecosystem.

Synchronization

Your data should move with you, free from its siloed existence on individual pieces of hardware or software. Microsoft built a feed syndication platform into Internet Explorer 7, allowing any application running on the desktop to leverage central feed storage and retrieval tools for consistent data access across multiple applications. This data currently lives on the desktop, unaware of the other devices you use to read your favorite feeds. We intend to connect your feed reading experience and individual data across all Microsoft software online and offline, creating a seamless reading experience when and where you choose to interact with the data.

Sharing

Once you find interesting content you want to store it for later, share with friends, or possibly even the world. Connect to your list of friends to let them know about a particular feed or post you just discovered. Save an item into a special folder for later review. You might also want to send an e-mail or post to a blog with more information about the feed or post. We'll help connect you to the right tool at the right time with the appropriate context.

Portability

You should be able to choose the best service for your needs in feed syndication, synchronization, e-mail, blogs, and many other services. We will create open endpoints for users where appropriate and available to allow the most variety and user choice possible. We'll be focused on creating the best experience possible within Microsoft's products, proving we can handle millions of users and connections before taking on outside developer endpoints.
