Here, There, Everywhere...
We are pleased to announce that our next update will be available later today is now available. The new build contains a number of reliability and performance improvements; we've highlighted the key fixes below. By default your Live Mesh software will automatically update itself within 24 hours of the new build being posted, but you can always right-click the Notifier icon in the system tray and choose to force an immediate update.
Windows Vista User Account Control (UAC) reminder
While we no longer require that UAC be enabled when running Live Mesh on Vista SP1, if you initially installed Live Mesh with UAC enabled, and then disabled it, you might have some issues upgrading. Please see the “NOTICE: Updating Live Mesh and User Account Control (UAC)” Announcement on the Live Mesh forums for further information.
And as always, thank you for all the great feedback!

Just a general comment about the interface of the software; I can understand that for the development team Live Mesh is the most important piece of software on earth :)
For me as a user though, I just want an application that just works and does its synching silently in the background.
Why on earth does Live Mesh add a bolt on panel to all my explorer windows? It looks so ugly and clunky while it really is not necessary to continuously monitor the sync status (providing that Live Mesh works reliably!).
When will mesh be available on the server platforms? Kind of a drag not having support for them.
when it will be available in Italy?
Sorry you're hitting this issue too. I know how you feel about the Quick Launch icons being rearranged: I organize mine in a particular way also. There is good and bad news on this issue. The good news is that a fix is already in the works and is coming. The bad news is that it's not quite ready yet. ;) Thanks for being patient with us during the Tech Preview.
We've had a lot of customers requesting more user control over the mesh bar (that's the 'blot on panel' that attaches to the Explorer window of any Live Mesh folder) - from controlling its default state (e.g., minimized) to disabling it all together. I've added your vote for more control to our internal list of customer suggestions. :)
While we're not yet able to say exactly when Live Mesh will be available in Italy, please rest assured that we're working to make it available to as many people as we can as soon as we can. Thanks for your interest!
Adding support for server SKUs is one of our most popular customer requests, and (as with adding more countries) we're working hard to make Live Mesh supported on as many platforms as possible as quickly as we can. But, of course, we want to make sure that everyone who uses Live Mesh has the best possible experience - which sometimes means having to wait a bit longer. ;)
This is a known issue, I'm afraid. We're working on it, but it would be a help if you could submit a bug on this. Please see the forums for details on how to submit bugs. Thanks.
P2P syncing doensn't appear to be much (if any faster). I have a gigabit network and yet syncing between two machines on the network is painfully slow - as in only 3 gigs over 2 days (33 gigs to go). Why doesn't mesh use available bandwidth when it can?
We have made some improvements to P2P sync performance, but we still have work to do. Unfortunately there are a variety of reasons why Live Mesh might not use a direct P2P connection, but we're working to make the sync algorithms more efficient. We've also had a few requests for a user-controlled option to force Live Mesh to only sync over the local LAN. Feel free to add suggestions for what you'd like to see to our forum Wish List: http://forums.community.microsoft.com/en/LiveMesh/thread/dd382356-bea0-490d-bfbd-1260224f3846
We do still require an English Region and Language setting, but the region does not matter (e.g., it does not have to be "English, United States").
