OH RLY? can it detect your Iris pattern from 3 feet away using the crappy CMOS camera we have on our phones? While the other competitors have stupendous 5.0 mega-pixel CCD wonders with auto-focus, we're still dabbling with grainy washed out photos.

Perhaps we should have FOVEON X3 Sensor technology on our phones and then we can say that we have "SUPER HIGH TECHNOLOGY" on our website.

It this works as advertised, then its certainly a wow moment. How can I get a demo?

here's an excerpt from their site:

In October of 2005, Oki began marketing a technology claimed to inexpensively add face recognition to camera-equipped cellphones. Oki's "Face Sensing Engine" (FSE) "middleware" could decode facial images within 280mS on a 100MHz ARM9 processor, and could restrict access to mobile devices by recognizing their owners, the company said at the time.

The new iris recognition middleware appears to be available now, though Oki Electric has not released pricing details. Devices using the technology are expected to go on sale in 2008.

The recommended development environment is Microsoft's Visual Studio 2005.

Gotta love the last statement.
