With the new launch of the Windows Server 2012 another interesting capability has come into the preview mode: Windows Azure Online Backup, a cloud-based backup for Windows Server 2012. The service provides IT administrators with a physically remote backup and recovery option for their server data with limited additional investment when compared with on-premises backup solutions.

Great news is that in addition to cloud-based backup for Windows Server 2012, Windows Azure Online Backup supports cloud-based backup from on-premises System Center 2012 SP1 via the Data Protection Manager component as well. For more details check out the Server Cloud blog post.

If you are eager to get started, then open the Windows Azure Online Backup site and click “Try It!” Smile.

And another sweet information: customers of Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2012 Essentials, and System Center 2012 can preview Online Backup as a no-charge, fixed storage quota subscription.
