Claire on the team  posted a nice entry about the Software Design deadline of the 9th January:

The simplest New Year's Resolution to achieve

I wanted to re-iterate her comments and give a couple of tips from someone that has been involved in some form for the past 4 years (crazy!):

- Brainstorm, get the idea down, find the team and get the right technology mix. We'll be able to spot the passionate student by the idea rather than some MBA style entry

- Plan out how you would do the implementation. If you are going to use all binary code and digital ink then it might be a bit of a stretch for you to implement and even harder for us to support (it's all about the CLR after all!)

- Email us and ask us a question - we'll get back to you pretty quickly. ukacinfo@NOSPAM.microsoft.com

- Talk to your lecturers. If the lecturers like software and want to challenge you, the IC is a great way for them to support you and give them insight into how Microsoft works and why we care so much about supporting students

And if you have any questions then let me know at markjo@microsoft.com or (new in 2008) IM me
