I know people have mixed feelings about this, but I wanted to mention it anyway as I am a huge Windows Live Writer fan. The Live Writer team recently released a plug-in for automatically creating a new Tweet on Twitter to point to your blog post.
This means that you can hit the “Publish” button on your blog post and have it instantly update your Twitter stream with a link to the new blog post. Pretty cool, especially if you often blog in response to things happening on Twitter, as many folks I know do.
You can find out more about this in the Live Writer blog here: http://writerdevzone.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!FF912D98C958E9D3!170.entry The entry talks about updates to the Live Writer SDK and shows you how to take advantage of the new pre- and post- publish events.
Another cool thing they added as a sample was a “Digg This” plug-in to enable adding automatically a DiggThis button to your post.
Conversely, if you are like me and use Twitter as a micro-blogging tool, you may like the Windows Live Writer Plugin: Twitter Inserter. I created it as a way to collect my recent tweets into a formatted list that gets inserted into my Live Writer blog post. Now, your non-Twitter blog readers can enjoy your micro-blogging.
You can download the installer from Microsoft's Windows Live Writer Plugin Gallery site, here:
You don't have to jump through any hoops to install it.
