Last week I had an XNA talk at DCU. They had left me with a few questions to answer which I had left on my machine which went into the shop. I got it back yesterday and here are the questions:
What is the accepted file size for games submitted to Community Games?
from the FAQ on creators.xna.com:
The game binary must be less than 150MB compressed (as a ccgame package) and compiled to run with the XNA 3.0 Framework or higher. It must be virus-free and contain only intellectual property you own the rights for. More detail is given here about submitting a game.
What are the costs for the premium Xbox Creators Club Membership?
from the Membership page on creators.xna.com:
At $49 US for four months, and $99 US per year, Premium Membership gets you everything you need to get your game in front of Xbox LIVE users.
Students may also be eligible for a free membership via DreamSpark, but it’s not exactly the same as a paid Premium membership. The limited membership does not get you access to download premium content (extra demo games & content) from creators.xna.com, and it also does not allow you to submit or review Community Games. These you can only do with the paid premium membership, according to http://forums.xna.com/forums/t/12661.aspx.
Are there any places people use to host shared sources / code for XNA games for the Zune?
It seems the forums here are quite active with Zune game developers: http://www.zuneboards.com/forums/download-completed-games-174/
I haven’t found anything else, but if I do, I’ll publish it here.
The other question I had was about physics engines, which I answered in a previous post.
Anything else, please let me know!
Hi Martha,
Only noticed this now (been a busy few months, finally finished \o/), but thanks for posting this followup. Might try my hand at developing some silly little games for the Xbox over the summer :) (then sell them.. and get rich.. and buy a solid gold house and a rocket car... I can always dream...)
