What is up with number sorting, redux

  • Comments 3

Back in January, I explained what was up with numeric sorting in Explorer on Windows XP.

And I did mention there was a group policy to get the old behavior if you preferred it.

I even explained here how to query for that policy's setting.

I never did mention the easiest/coolest way to change the setting if you needed to.

Luckily, Rolando Ramirez described today the TweakUI trick to turn off the 'Use intuitive filename sorting' setting, in his post Windows Explorer vs Geeks (or Intuitive filename sorting).

In my defense, I did not even know it was there. :-)

But thanks  for the extra legwork, Rolando. A very worthy tip for people who find what Shell considers the intuitive method to be less intuitive....
