Why do we park on a driveway, and drive on a parkway?

An excellent post by Mark Russinovich entitled Running Everyday on 64-bit Windows. Mark goes through the overall experience he had moving one of his main machines to Win64...

The funniest line: "(think about that for a second: 64-bit binaries are in System32 while 32-bit binaries are in Syswow64)"

The Gallagher-esque quality is simply inescapable.

And the actual post rocks, too. Good, in-depth info on his 64-bit experience. His conclusion?

All in all, the 64-bit everyday OS experience has been pretty painless, and with a few exceptions, totally seamless.

Unless you're thinking mixing 32-bits and 64-bits is like the Sledge-O-Matic.

Anyway, it's always interesting what happens in the name of backward compatability. Raymond Chen would be proud.
