You can now do this with any language!
even the full Language Packs.
Woo hoo!
Now how's that for a great Windows 8 international language feature no one else has mentioned?!? :-)
I was *so* excited about the Icelandic localization...
until I opened classic Control Panel and saw these strings:
- Save backup copies of your files with File History
- Find and fix problems
- View network status and tasks
- Choose homegroup and sharing options
- Adjust commonly used mobility settings
Well, at least the Windows feature I work on had all its UI text translated...
Hey-ho! That's great, and a nice followup to the good news of your return from the hospital!
Yet how can it be Malayalam but not Tamil? :)
This is wonderfull, about time!
Although MacOS X shipped with (free) localized UI for along time now, Windows has now way more languages available.
Here's a scenario I wish were supported:
I can read English and Japanese. English is my native language, but there are some apps in the store for which Japanese is really the "native language" of the app itself (and its authors), but there's also a sloppily translated (maybe machine translated) English version in the store. In these cases I'd much prefer to see the Japanese version by default. I wish there were a way (maybe there is?) for app authors to specify preferred languages for an app and have those languages be used by default in some cases even when it's not my #1 preferred language in general, but is somewhere else on my list of languages.
sq-AL = Albanian (Albania)
@contextfree: Devil's advocate: what if the English translation were excellent? Would you still want the Japanese version? If you wanted the English instead, how would the OS know?
