Today, IDG's Computerworld has selected Microsoft as one of the top Green-IT Organizations for 2009 for the second consecutive year. Microsoft is ranked #4 this year and moved up 2 spots from their 2008 ranking (6th in 2008). This honor is part of the IT media outlet's annual Top Green-IT Organizations feature, which was published in the April 20 issue of Computerworld and online at http://www.computerworld.com/topgreen09. Microsoft was rated in the technology “vendor” category and was judged based on its efforts to meet environmental challenges, most notably, on their IT departments' efforts to reduce energy consumption in their IT equipment, and to use technology to conserve energy and lower carbon emissions. We’re thrilled for this recognition and would like to dedicate this honor to the hard-working employees at the company innovating every day and doing great things to help improve the impact of our company on the environment.
