We’ve talked about the power management enhancements in Windows 7 and wanted to share this case study about the City of Miami’s move to Windows 7. Faced with unprecedented budgetary challenges, officials at the City of Miami needed to trim municipal operating expenses while continuing to provide services to their citizens. One way they were able to reduce costs was through the use of new group policy power management preferences in Windows 7. The case study suggests that the City of Miami will cut “more than $45,000 in energy costs in just the first year after deployment.” Additionally, the move to Windows 7 has allowed the City to help make progress to meet their objectives for “greener” city operations.
This is another solid example of how organizations are using technology to reduce costs and meet their environmental sustainability objectives.
