Earlier this year at CeBIT, Microsoft and German utility company RWE announced a joint project to help RWE customers improve energy efficiency in their homes. The  project, called “SmartHome”, aims to reduce customer energy bills by improving energy efficiency through the use of technology. Lighting, heating, appliances and electronics will be linked together through wireless networks and customers will be able to view and manage everything through a centralized computer.  The solution will be available to RWE customers by the end of 2010.
