Power Down for the Planet Intern Visits Microsoft

  • Comments 1

Jenny Le, summer intern for the Power Down for the Planet university challenge campaign sponsored by Climate Savers Computing Initiative, recently visited Microsoft and she’s postedPowerDown_Logo_FINAL her blog and video about the visit.  Power Down for the Planet is designed to encourage universities and their campus communities to reduce their own IT power consumption and get their students, faculty and staff involved in the fight against climate change. The campaign brings together college campuses across the nation and around the world to make a shared commitment to sustainable computing practices. The challenge includes a competition to see which university can recruit the highest total pledges as well as the largest percentage of their campus community to pledge support to Climate Savers Computing.

Microsoft is a board member of Climate Savers Computing Initiative and helps in their efforts to promote the adoption of smart technologies that can both improve the efficiency of a computer’s power delivery and reduce the energy consumed when the computer is actively in use.  For students or universities that want to get involved, visit the Power Down for the Planet site’s “How to Join” page.
