Bing Maps Adds Public Transit Directions

  • Comments 0

Bing Maps added new public transit routing features to its directions options, allowing users to find bus, subway, or local rail routes. The initial list of Bing Maps transit directions covers 11 cities, including: Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New Jersey, New York City, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle, Washington DC, and Vancouver, BC and the Bing Maps team suggests there are more to come.

Public transportation is a great option for people to help reduce roadway congestion and the addition of this feature aims to help encourage the use of public transportation. The screenshot shows transit information featured alongside each route option. This helps users compare route options based on their existing knowledge of the transit and their preferences.

For more information on the new feature, visit the Bing Maps community blog. Or, if you’re in one of the 11 cities above, check out your local transit route. Make sure to select the “Transit” option or the bus icon (see below).
