From operations to products, Microsoft is committed to driving responsible environmental leadership around the world. Our Las Colinas Campus in Irving, Texas, recently won the 2012 North Texas Corporate Recycling Association’s Green Award, joining our Redmond campus and offices worldwide in being recognized for efforts to reduce waste.
For the past two years, the Dallas-area campus has kept more than 12,000 tons of solid waste out of the local landfill. Behind these efforts has been the introduction of campus-wide organic composting containers in break rooms and cafés. The environmental team at Las Colinas educated more than 1,600 employees on how to reduce the company’s environmental impact and developed cooperative partnerships with the nearby cities of Plano and Melissa, both of which generously contributed time, expertise and resources to make the composting program a success. And in addition to diverting tons of solid organic waste from landfills, the team adopted eco-friendly compostable products for all tableware, containers and flatware.
Around the world, Microsoft actively works to protect our natural resources. We have made environmental stewardship part of our business relationships and seek similar commitments to the environment from our major suppliers. We know our employees play a big role in our corporate sustainability efforts, and we value the continued commitment our teams make to the environment.
