Hello Business Intelligence community! My name is Eron Kelly and I recently took the role of General Manager of Product Marketing for the Data Platform at Microsoft. I’ve been at Microsoft for over 12 years in various product marketing roles on BizTalk, Exchange, Office 365 and Windows Azure. I’m excited to announce that Microsoft has been positioned as a Leader in the Magic Quadrant for Business Intelligence and Analytics Platforms that was published February 5, 2013.

I am happy to see this type of affirmation in our approach and the strength of our technologies. The high level of satisfaction of our current Microsoft Business Intelligence customers is especially gratifying. We believe our placement in this report reflects, in part, the level of positive customer feedback Microsoft has received in the customer survey portion of the evaluations. Focus on familiar, intuitive user experiences delivered via high quality, industry-leading products that businesses already know and use today is key to making BI truly accessible to all users.

Gartner believes “the market for BI and analytics platforms will remain one of the fastest growing software markets.” And that, “although this is a mature market and has been a top CIO priority for years, there is still a lot of unmet demand. Every company has numerous subject areas — such as HR, marketing, social and so on — that have yet to even start with BI and analytics.”[1]

Microsoft delivers on a vision of making Business Intelligence more accessible to everyone across the organization, as witnessed by the higher than average deployment of BI solutions recorded by our customers. By providing Business Intelligence capabilities in familiar tools such as Excel and SharePoint, we empower an entirely new segment of business users to build and consume rich BI solutions as part of their everyday work. Delivering the server-side capabilities to enable self-service BI via SharePoint and SQL Server provides a common, scalable data platform to handle any data, any size, from anywhere, and tackle all of your Big Data needs.

Better insight and oversight can be the difference maker between surviving and thriving. We keep listening to our customers and working hard to help them put better business intelligence in the hands of more decision makers at all levels of their organization. It’s this focus on users and making Business Intelligence accessible to everyone that we believe differentiates Microsoft. Enabling everyone to make faster, more relevant decisions is our mission. We appreciate the continued recognition of the impact of our software in these reports. Above all, we value our customer’s voice in helping shape and validate this approach.
